Italian design meets the jewel at a unique and unmissable exhibition in Vicenza

Vicenzaoro Spring - Marco Ferreri

From 18 May to 18 June, during the days of the Vicenzaoro Spring exhibition, Ente Fiera di Vicenza has organized the exhibition “The Italian design meets the jewel.”

Supervised by designer Marco Romanelli and by Alba Cappellieri, Professor of Architecture History and Arts and Jewellery Design at the Politecnico of Milan, the exhibition goes from the fifties to the present day, through different periods and styles: from Modernism to Post Rationalism up to Minimalism, to get to the contemporary scene. It is a historical review with many unusual items presented to the public for the first time. The exhibition is the largest ever dedicated to the jewel of Italian design. It is divided into two sections: the work made for the event and the vintage ones, like the pieces of Roberto Sambonet created for Tiffany and Pirelli in the 50s and 60s, and the first gold brooch from 1957 by Ettore Sottsass, that was believed to be lost. In addition, eighteen Italian industrial designers accustomed to dealing with objects, furniture and lighting, have designed, together with many artisans Vicenza, creations without gems in sterling silver.

Projects by Aldo Cibic, Gae Aulenti, Bruno Munari, Mario Bellini, Stefano Giovannoni and Clinio Castelli were borrowed for the exhibition.

Among the most original not-to-be-missed pieces, the squared bracelets by Giorgio Bonaguro and the light and airy one by Cini Boeri, while among the rings we point out Fabio Novembre’s creation for four fingers and the ring of Francesco Faccin, with stamp and necklace with buffer.

After June 18, the exhibition will be hosted at the Triennale in Milan.
