Hotel Palazzo Manfredi is a unique place to stay for diving in the ancient history of Rome. Looking through its windows and from the roof terrace is enough to realize it: an exciting glance will have you embrace the Colosseum, the Imperial Forum and the Domus Aurea. Where today stands Palazzo Manfredi, four barracks for gladiators were built in the days of Imperial Rome, the remains of the main of which were discovered in 1937, between via Labicana and Via San Giovanni in Laterano: the ‘Ludus Magnus’, the old gladiators gym.
Already in 1500 ‘Casino Guidi’ was located behind the ancient settlement, a hunting lodge in the Guidi Gardens, which in 2002 was transformed thanks to the restoration commissioned by Count Goffredo Manfredi, who is also an engineer, in this exclusive hotel.
Palazzo Manfredi is a rare jewel of five stars elegance and hospitality. The spacious rooms and suites are amazingly beautiful, on top of the scenery outside: the Junior Suite, with view of the Coliseum, and characterized by a zone salle de bain in continuity with the bedroom as a small Roman baths, the Family Suite beautifully furnished with rich fabrics such as velvet and leather and marble floor. The Ludus Magnus Suite is dedicated to the opulence of the Roman Empire: like an ancient Rome residence, it is dominated by the colors red and bronze and rooms are wrapped in precious leather wallpaper. Also the Coliseum Suite is characterized by refinement, designed on various levels with a wellness area, jacuzzi, hammam, chromotherapy, and equipped with a mini-gym. Each piece of furniture is signed by artists such as Ingo Maurer and Van Egmond, curtains and blinds are from luxury designer brands such as Missoni, Larsen and Ivano Redaelli.
To satisfy the most demanding palates, the Aroma restaurant on the terrace of the Palace offers traditional Italian cuisine along with an enchanting spectacle of the wonders of the heart of Rome. Here you can savor of chef Giuseppe Di Iorio’s creations. The excellence of the Aroma restaurant has also been recognized at an international level, when it was awarded the 5 Star Diamond by the American Academy.
